  • Chris Gayle played 215 from 146 balls. he  is scored the first time a double century in World Cups. The previous one is best was 188* by Gary Kirsten against the UAE in 1996.



  • Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle shared a 372-run stand for the second wicket partnership. This is a world record stand partnership for any wicket in ODI. The previous highest partnership was 331 between Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 1999. This was also the highest partnership in World Cups, going past 318 set by Sourav Ganguly and Dravid against Sri Lanka in Taunton in 1999 .this is the indians tighers.



  • Gayle blased up his double century in138 balls,this is the fastest double century   ever  in ODIs.
  • Gayle's scored  the highest individual score by any West Indies batsman in ODIs. The previous highest scored by a West Indies batsman in ODIs was 189 by Sir Vivian Richards against England in Old Trafford in 1984.

  • Gayle become the second player to hit over 400 sixes in international cricket (229 ODIs, 98 in Tests and 87 in T20Is). Only Shahid Afridi can do it and got first rank. .
  • Gayle  scored the record of most sixes hit in ODIs. He blased and hit 16 sixes in the innings, tied with Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers.  

  • Gayle became the first non-Indian batsman to score a double century in ODIs. This is the 5th double century in ODIs.
  • Gayle is the only cricketer currently playing cricketer to have scored a hundred in T20Is, double hundred in ODIs and a triple hundred in Tests.
